1:30 p.m. Adrenaline Fuel (Vegetarian)

Packs a pretty wallop. Psychologist-approved to help production of adrenaline before afternoon sluggishness takes hold.

– 2 slices multigrain brown bread (not that fake brown shit, REAL brown, with chewy bits and seeds in)
– 1/2 avocado
– sea salt
– black pepper
– fresh goat cheese (about 1 tbsp)
– light-coloured honey (wildflower or something — not forest)

1. Toast bread.
2. Mash avocado. Spread on toast.
3. Salt & pepper avocado surface.
4. Sprinkle with crumbs of goat cheese.
5. If your honey is in a squeezy bottle, turn the bottle upside down. Don’t squeeze. If it’s in a jar, get a small, pointy spoon and fill with honey, then tip gently over toast. Allow the honey to fall in a very thin stream. Spiderweb the honey all over your toast.

This recipe works because it is digested in very specific stages: first, the sugar in the honey gets in your bloodstream straight away and perks you up. Then the flour in the bread starts to break down. This provides a good bridge until the healthy fats in the cheese and avocado are digested.

Plus it tastes like sex in a bathtub of ambrosia.

Really good accompanied with a bottled unsweetened tea, like the Ito-En jasmine I have lurking in my cupboard.
